Goku

Goku is a character from one of my favorite childhood cartoons Dragon Ball Z.  Dragon Ball Z is the best cartoon show to ever appear on in my childhood. Yet I want  to take the time to talk about its main character Goku or Kakarot which was his birth name. Goku is an alien martial artist from planet Vegeta as an saiyan. Throughout the show he faces many different villains and characters in which he will have to train very hard to defeat them. Although the show blows the power of martial arts and Ki out of proportion giving these characters the ability to destroy planets it still has core traditional values that people should take a lesson from concerning martial arts. In the show you see Goku go through some of the most gruesome training that anyone can endure. Goku performs heavy training in an atmosphere where the gravity is 100x stronger than earths,he devotes himself to three years of training. Goku always appreciates a good fight. Even though he is fighting an intergalactic serial killer with the ability to destroy planets. He tells his opponents that he is honored to fight a strong opponent. I think that most martial artist should develop this attitude. Maybe not to the extent where your fighting off an rapist who happens to be a developed martial artist but when your sparring with someone better dont fret over your lack of skill to defeat them. Instead enjoy the fight and thank the opponent for the opportunity to fight and then train as hard as i can to defeat this person. If I  can train with Cung Le who is an professional fighter i know i will lose i still want to test my skills against one of the best.

Kimura Technique

Although i prefer stand up fighting such as kickboxing learning to grapple and defend yourself on the ground is just as important. Actually even more important. Chances are most fights end up on the ground. You may not want to end up on the ground in a fight but at that point its too late to rescind your actions. One technique thats very effective is the Kimura. The Kimura  can be applied from different guards but usually its applied from a full guard where the one doing the technique is on top of his opponent. It is a double joint armlock that applies pressure on the shoulder and is very difficult to escape. In fact escape from a Kimura  rarely happens. Usually in an MMA competition you have the option to submit. If you chose not to submit in this lock then you risk a broken arm or a dislocated shoulder. Learning this technique takes time and practice but the effort is sure worth it.

FAKE death battle Taskmaster vs Lady Shiva

Now this is a good matchup between fictional comic book characters. both are well known martial artist in their fake universes. Lady Shiva is a DC martial  artist with a special ability to see a persons moves before they act. its an crazy ability. With it even someone of the likes of Batman  has trouble fighting her. one time she was beating him so bad it took the interference of robin to save him. Lady Shiva has got to be one of the best martial artist in the DC universe alongside Connor hawk and the batgirl. in the comics she travels the world looking for the worlds best  artist and challenges them to a dual rp the death Taskmaster I have explained his awesomeness  in an earlier post. I'm interest ed to know  who do you think will win?

Misunderstanding my opinion

Most times you will hear me say that i do not like alot of mainstream rappers that are out today. Most times I am referencing rappers suchas Lil Wayne,Drake,Nicki Minaj(if we should even call her that),Lil Boosie and more. The thing is I don't. Yet people misunderstand what I mean when i say this. They take it as if I am saying I don't like these rappers because they are in the mainstream category and for that reason only. Tha's not the case. I don't like those rappers because in my very honest opinion i believe they are killing the rap industry with these repetitive lyrics and disastrous songs. It just so happens that many of those rappers i don't like are in the mainstream category. I abhor the fact that people assume otherwise and then agree with me with their own opinion that it is somehow "cool" and "trendy" to dislike mainstream society and its rappers. Biggie was a great lyricist and always had an paroxysm of flows in his songs that made my head shake as if there were lice in it. He was mainstream. Kendrick Lamar is now in the mainstream category and he has got to be one of the best rappers to be classified in that category today besides Eminem. Everytime his songs pop up on the radio i get excited. Kendrick Lamar is creative, constructive and has great beats to go with his flows. So no i dont dislike mainstream rappers because they are mainstream. I dislike mainstream rappers mostly because they mostly suck.

Phil Jackson going to the knicks??!

Hold on!!!! Phil Jackson rumors about the famous coach himself maybe becoming head coach of the New York knicks?!! That's  insane. This guy is an NBA coach legend and although its only rumors and not very reliable ones since I have heard it from an friend I do very much like the idea. The knicks have been in a slump this season. They haven't been winning many games this season and even place below The Bobcats which saddens me deeply as a very big New York fan. Yet if we can achieve a coach of high status like this the knicks may go somewhere. I personally don't understand what has caused the lack of hustle and achievements this seasons. Last season the Knicks were a powerhouse coming in second place for the eastern conference below the Miami Heat. Knicks have retained all the key players from before that have allowed them to be a powerhouse last season. Phil Jackson is an very good coach. Hall of fame material. He was the coach of one of the most famous basketball players in history and one of the best players to step on the court which is Michael Jordan himself. That's right the coach of the Chicago bulls with Michael Jordan, and Scotty Pippen may come to the knicks to help rebuild the team. I was hoping by some miracle that the knicks will return to former glory somehow  and come out on top as it has last season. They do have the ability to do so as the team isnt that bad. Yet with some type of news like this I am happy to hear that knicks has an easier chance of being that team to fear to play against. Maybe Carmelo wont leave the knicks in his free agency this season.

Anderson Silva kicking again

It seems that Anderson Silva is finally able to perform some kicks with his left leg after one of the nastiest injuries i have seen in my lifetime of watching UFC martial arts fights so far. I mean after breaking his tibula and fibia in late December last year I have to admit I was worried about not getting the chance to see Silva fight ( although I haven't been keeping myself posted in order to convince myself otherwise when it came to this news) it is good to know that this injury isn't an career ender. Silva is a great fighter in my opinion. He strikes fast and his grappling is insane!!! He moves around like a spider on the ground. Hes so nimble and snaps you into an submission with the speed and force of  a cobra. After Chris Weidman strategically checked his kick it was nasty injury but now his leg seems to be working again.

Knives

A fighting knife is a knife who blade is specifically designed to inflict injury against an opponent at an very close distance. for a martial artist it would be grappling distance. Being honest with you any knife is capable of inflicting injury against someone even a butter knife but these are dangerously sharp. even messing with the blade i cut myself very lightly. I personally love the idea of knives in combat. its a quick way to incapacitate an opponent. People seem to forget that martial arts can also include weapons. even in traditional martial arts where it mainly an visual art for sightseeing purposes and entertainment the knife is used.
